CenterPoint says they expect to get 85% of impacted customers back online by the end of Sunday

According to the company, more than 1.6 million customers have been restored since Hurricane Beryl knocked power out.

HOUSTON — CenterPoint Energy posted an update on Saturday, saying they expect to have 85 percent of customers who lost power during Beryl back up by the end of the weekend.

The notice was posted on Saturday at 2 p.m. As of Sunday morning around 5 a.m., power had been restored to more than 1.8 million customers. More than 461,000 customers remained without power.

On Friday, CenterPoint updated their maps to show estimated restoration dates, along with areas they said had been energized. When we posted the map on Friday night, we heard from many of you that the map wasn’t accurate, that you live in an area that the map showed as ‘energized,’ but were still without power.

CenterPoint said that may be because you're part of what they call a nested outage.

A "nested outage" means CenterPoint systems indicated power was restored to equipment serving your area, but your home may be impacted due to a more localized issue such as a damaged fuse line or transformer.

According to CenterPoint, another possibility could be a tree on your service line that runs directly to your home.
