CenterPoint alert says my power was restored so why is it still out? Here's what that may mean

Many Houston-area residents have received alerts that their power was restored, but they're still without it. CenterPoint explains what that may mean.

HOUSTON — CenterPoint Energy continues to make progress in bringing the number of outages down following Thursday’s storms. They said they’re still on track for substantial completion of power restoration by the end of the day Wednesday.

Since Thursday's storms, many CenterPoint Energy customers said they've received notifications saying their electric service was restored, but they're still without power.

In a post to X, the company said anyone without power who's received this alert may be included in a "nested outage."

A "nested outage" means CenterPoint systems indicated power was restored to equipment serving your area, but your home may be impacted due to a more localized issue such as a damaged fuse line or transformer.

According to CenterPoint, another possibility could be a tree on your service line that runs directly to your home.
