Distribution sites: Where to find food, water, ice, supplies after Hurricane Beryl

As a massive power outage drags on, many hurricane victims are running out of non-perishable food, water and other essentials.

The Houston Astros Foundation. Cheniere Energy, Chick-fil-A and the Houston Food Bank handed out food, water and ice to over 1,000 cars on July 12.

HOUSTON — The following organizations are distributing food, water, ice or supplies for Hurricane Beryl victims in the Houston area.

Distribution drives on Saturday, July 13

Catholic Charities on Saturday, July 13

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will provide food, water, and cleaning supplies to individuals and families as they recover from Hurricane Beryl. A drive-thru distribution will occur on Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the agency’s headquarters at 2900 Louisiana Street in Houston.

Counselors will be on hand to meet with anyone experiencing extreme trauma as a result of the hurricane, and prayer resources will be available upon request.

Limited financial assistance will be available starting next week by applying online. Check Catholic Charities’ social media pages and website for further details.

The Mamie George Community Center at 1111 Collins Road in Richmond will be open on Friday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to serve as a cooling center for those seeking respite from the heat.

UniverSoul Circus, PepsiCo, KTSU 90.9FM  

In celebration of 713 Day and as an effort to help families reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl,to host a drive-through event offering water, ice and Pepsi© products.  

The event is free and open to anyone affected by Hurricane Beryl. Participants will remain inside their cars as volunteers load bottled water and bags of ice into cars. 

WHEN: Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. 

WHERE: Butler Stadium at 13755 S. Main St, Houston

As a reminder, all frontline workers (including first responders, emergency medical crews, utility workers, Red Cross, members of the media and other personnel) can request complimentary family four-packs of tickets to the following shows this weekend – Friday, July 12, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 13, at noon and 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, July 14, at noon and 3 and 6:30 p.m. To obtain complimentary tickets, an agency or union representative must register at universoulcircus.com/houston. Tickets will be emailed to the agency to distribute to frontline workers. Seating is reserved, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  

Harris County Precinct 2

Harris County Precinct 2 is hosting two distribution events Saturday morning.

One will be held at the M.O. Campbell Education Center, located at 1865 Aldine Bender Road. The other will be at the Pasadena Convention Center entrance on 7601 Red Bluff. Both started at 7 a.m.

Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis

The Office of Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis will open a distribution site on Saturday, July 13, in partnership with Sheldon ISD. 

WHEN: 8 a.m. to noon (while supplies last)

WHERE: Panther Stadium located at 11433C East Sam Houston Pkwy N 

They will also serve meals at the Precinct One El Camino Center in partnership with the Salvation Army.

WHEN: Noon - 1 p.m.

WHERE:  One El Camino Center, located at 2727 El Camino St.

Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones

Pct.  4 Commissioner Lesley Briones will open a food and water distribution site. 

WHEN: Saturday, July 13, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. 

WHERE: Bayland Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet St, Houston and 

                Radack Community Center, 18650 Clay Road, Houston

Walmart Supercenter in Alief

State Sen. Borris L. Miles will distribute water on Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. at the Walmart located at 9460 W Sam Houston Pkwy S.

Distribution drive on Monday, July 15

Pct.  4 Commissioner Lesley Briones will open Radack Community Center as a food and water distribution site 

WHEN: Monday, July 15, 8 a.m. 10 a.m. 

WHERE: Bayland Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet St, Houston and 

                Radack Community Center, 18650 Clay Road, Houston

Distribution drive on Saturday, July 20

Bread of Life

Bread of Life in downtown Houston will hold another drive-thru distribution event on Saturday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to noon in coordination with its third annual All-In Back-to-School Event at St. John’s United Methodist Church at 2019 Crawford St. 

Items are provided on a first-come basis. 

Donations needed:

  • Non-perishable food items like canned, boxed and bagged goods
  • Water 
  • Hygiene items like toothbrushes, soap, wipes, sanitizer,
  • Disaster relief items like flashlights, first aid kits
  • School supplies like notebooks, paper, pencils, crayons, glue and backpacks.
