HOUSTON — The Houston Astros are back at Minute Maid Park for their last regular season homestand of the season. And it might be the last regular season homestand as an Astro for one of the team’s biggest stars.
Third-baseman Alex Bregman will become a free agent at the end of the 2024 season.
Astros general manager Dana Brown said a few days ago that he spoke to Bregman’s agent, Scott Boras. Brown said that as of now, there are no talks regarding a new contract, however, both sides agreed that they’ll circle back once the season is over.
Bregman has been with the Astros since 2016 and was part of four of the five teams in franchise history to go to the World Series, including the only two World Series-winning teams.
Bregman is a career .272 hitter with 188 home runs and 655 RBIs in the regular season. In the postseason, Bregman has a .235 average with 19 home runs and 54 RBIs.
