'I slept on it wrong' | Astros Alex Bregman explains why he's out of the lineup

The Astros have been on fire lately, but the streaking 'Stros may be without their slugging third baseman for a few games.

HOUSTON — The Astros Alex Bregman has been on a tear lately, but a bad sleep will keep him out of the lineup.

On Friday, Bregman said he slept on his arm wrong and will miss a few games. Mauricio Dubón will take Bregman’s spot at third base for Friday’s game.

Bregman said he started to feel pain while the team was in Tampa, according to MLB.com.

Both Bregman and manager Joe Espada said it won’t keep him out of the lineup for long.

“I slept on it wrong,” Bregman said. “I feel like a few days, I’ll be able to come back strong and feel good, and I have no damage to any of the ligaments or anything like that.”

“We want him in there every day,” Espada said. “But I like the guys who are out there right now and compete and give us a chance to win.”

Bregman is hitting .261 with 19 home runs and 59 RBIs. Last week, he and teammate Yordan Alvarez were voted co-Players of the Week in the American League.

The Astros host the Chicago White Sox this weekend. While Houston is on an eight-game winning streak and holds a three-game lead in the American League West, the Sox are the league’s worst team with a 29-93 record. They recently tied an American League record with 21 straight losses.
