HOUSTON — Traffic in and around the Texas Medical Center can be a headache and now it's about to get worse.
Since January 10, Houston Public Works crews have been doing emergency repairs to a break in a 54-inch wastewater line, according to a release.
Several lanes of traffic near Main Street and University Boulevard have been closed as crews make extensive repairs to underground infrastructure.
Now, more temporary lane closures will begin on Friday, February 2.
Commuters, TMC patients, visitors and staff should plan accordingly and use alternate routes if possible.
These temporary lane closures are expected to impact Texas Medical Center traffic until the end of April 2024.
- Northbound traffic reduced to two lanes on Main St., between Dryden Rd. and University Blvd.
- Westbound and eastbound traffic reduced to one lane in each direction on University Blvd., between Main St. and Fannin St.
- Westbound University Blvd will be closed to traffic between Main St. and Travis St.
The repairs are not impacting water service to facilities in the area, according to public works.
