Houston Public Works make emergency repairs to a break in a wastewater line in the Texas Medical Center

Public works said several lanes of traffic at the intersection of Main Street and University Boulevard were closed as crews made repairs.

HOUSTON — Houston Public Works performed emergency repairs due to a break in a 54-inch wastewater line in the Texas Medical Center Wednesday morning, according to a release.

The emergency repairs were impacting a water line and other utilities along Main Street and University Boulevard. Public Works first posted on social about the repairs later Tuesday at 9 p.m.

Public words said water was restored within hours of the break. However, they are assessing the damage and planning for long-term repairs.

Public works said several lanes of traffic at the intersection were closed as crews made repairs.

Houston police were assisting the repair crews by performing traffic control in the area.
