2 weeks after KHOU 11 News report, 'eyesore' property in Channelview demolished

The house was an eyesore for neighbors for years. On Tuesday, local officials announced that it had been demolished.

CHANNELVIEW, Texas — Two weeks after a KHOU 11 News report on a nuisance property in Channelview, changes are happening.

On Tuesday, local officials announced that they believe the property owner demolished a home on South Drive that neighbors had been complaining about since a longtime owner died years ago.

The house on the property was covered in graffiti and neighbors said it was a haven for illegal activity.

Various agencies were working to rectify the problem before the structure disappeared.

Things used to take a turn for the worse where South Drive in Channelview becomes West Drive. It was due to the long-abandoned house that had become a landmark for all the wrong reasons.

Neighbor Larry Landry said the home had been a magnet for misdeeds ever since a longtime owner died. Graffiti, illegal dumping, and even gunfire are among the issues neighbors said they witnessed over the years.

According to property records, a company called Oiltanking Houston, LP took ownership of the home and property in 2013. Its local phone number was no longer in service. It appears to be connected to a Germany-based company by the same name which did not immediately respond to our questions.
