Spring High School student detained, accused of bringing gun to school, principal says

Spring High School Principal Al Reynolds III sent a note to parents to let them know about an incident on campus on Wednesday.

SPRING, Texas — A Spring High School student was taken into custody Wednesday after district officials said they brought a gun on campus.

According to a note sent to parents by Principal Al Reynolds III, they got a tip that a student had a gun.

He said Spring ISD police officers responded and were able to confiscate the gun without anything happening.

The student was detained and, according to Reynolds III, will face both school disciplinary action and criminal charges.

He went on to say there was an ongoing investigation to find out how the student got the gun on campus.

Other incidents

There were a few other incidents that happened Wednesday at Houston-area schools.

Bellaire High School was placed in secure mode due to a bomb threat and a student was stabbed at Sterling High School in southeast Houston.

Last Friday, a 16-year-old Channelview Independent School District student was arrested following an investigation into a social media threat. Harris County Pct. 3 Constable's Office officials said the threat was posted online with a photograph of a rifle and a pistol while indicating that a shooting would occur at one of the campuses.

Also last week, Klein ISD said a student was arrested for allegedly threatening classmates at Ulrich Intermediate.
