MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Floodwaters continue to recede in Montgomery County after last week's heavy rains, but the destruction left behind is permanent.

Along FM 2854 in Conroe, floodwaters from the San Jacinto River washed away what's referred to as the "Bonnie and Clyde" bridge.

The broken pieces of the bridge were still nearby.

As of Sunday, the river was well within its banks.
