Here's how strong the wind gusts were in Southeast Texas on Tuesday

A powerful storm pushed through the Houston area on Tuesday, bringing damaging wind and hail. Gusts were as high as 75 mph.

HOUSTON — Strong winds battered Southeast Texas on Tuesday. A line of storms started to push through the Houston area at around noon and wasn't off the coast until the 4 p.m. hour.

As it pushed through, we got reports of damage and saw some of it for ourselves. That includes homes in Magnolia under construction that collapsed, killing one person.  

So how strong were the wind gusts that came with Tuesday's storms? 

Meteorologist Pat Cavlin posted a map showing the peak wind gusts that came with the storms. Here's a sample of some of what pushed through, including peak gusts of 75 mph at Bush Airport.

  • College Station: 45 mph 
  • Huntsville: 67 mp
  • Conroe: 41 mph
  • Katy: 45 mph
  • Bay City: 49 mph
  • Galveston: 62 mph
  • Angleton: 54 mph
  • Tomball: 53 mph
  • Sugar Land: 58 mph
  • Wharton: 35 mph
  • Columbus: 29 mph
