A list of shelters open due to severe thunderstorms

The organization has set up a shelter at Kingwood First Baptist Church, 3500 Woodland Hills Drive in Kingwood, and at Bull Sallas Park Friendship Center, 21675 McCleskey Road in New Caney.
The American Red Cross has launched another round of relief for flood victims more than nine months after Harvey hit.

HOUSTON — The American Red Cross has opened emergency shelters due to severe weather Thursday night and Friday.

The organization has set up a shelter at Kingwood First Baptist Church, 3500 Woodland Hills Drive in Kingwood, and at Bull Sallas Park Friendship Center, 21675 McCleskey Road in New Caney.

More shelters are set up at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Meyerland (10330 Hillcroft Street) and Greater Saint Matthew Church, 7701 Jutland Road.

The Red Cross also has Creekside Christian Fellowship in Needville on standby as a shelter.

The Red Cross says anyone evacuating to these shelters should bring the following:

  • Prescriptions and emergency medications
  • Foods that meet unusual dietary requirements
  • Identification to show your residence is in the affected area, as well as important personal documents 
  • Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and other comfort items
  • Supplies needed for children and infants (diapers, formula, toys, etc.)
  • Special items for family members who are elderly or disabled
  • Chargers for any electronic devices
  • Books, games and other ways to entertain your family and yourself

The organization said public health regulations do not permit pets in shelters with the exception of service animals.
