HOUSTON — Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, Texas early Monday morning and the Salvation Army has announced it is sending resources and personnel to help those affected by the storm.
According to a press release, the Salvation Army said its Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team including an Incident Management Team as well as 10 mobile feeding units were sent out to Houston Monday afternoon from San Antonio, Texas to help with the continued response.
The EDS team will be set up at the Salvation Army Houston International Corps.
The team will coordinate a mass feeding operation with the Southern Baptist Texas Convention in Houston, with a second operation based in Wharton, Texas. Wharton is about 60 miles southwest of Houston.
The agency said all feeding efforts including the mobile kitchens are expected to begin on Tuesday. A list of feeding locations will be posted online at disaster.salvationarmyusa.org.
