HOUSTON — Researchers at Colorado State University released their updated forecast for the Atlantic Hurricane Season on Tuesday, saying they expect the two weeks to remain relatively quiet.
While the forecast for the season remains at an above-normal level of activity, the next two weeks are forecasted to be below normal.
Regardless of just how busy a hurricane season is, it just takes one storm to devastate a community. Beryl was evidence of that.
With the update that came out on Tuesday, Colorado State University maintained its number of named storms to 23. Of those 23, they call for 12 hurricanes. Of those 12 hurricanes, their forecast says six will be major.
The National Weather Service defines a major hurricane as a Category 3 or above or a tropical cyclone with sustained winds of 111 mph and higher.
