Incredibly long lines seen at Houston fast food restaurants post-Beryl

Video taken at a southeast-side McDonald's showed dozens of vehicles waiting in the drive-thru.

HOUSTON — As Hurricane Beryl made its way through Southeast Texas, it caused a path of destruction across the Houston area, knocking out power to more than 2 million people and causing widespread property damage.

With so few places open to eat after the power was knocked out, Houstonians were willing to sit in incredibly long lines to get a meal.

KHOU 11 reporter Anayeli Ruiz posted a video (taken by her dad) to X showing one of those lines. It was at the McDonald's off the Gulf Freeway at Astoria Boulevard on Monday evening.

In the video, dozens of vehicles can be seen lining the street waiting in line.

Fast food restaurants weren't the only places seeing an uptick in business. KHOU 11 News also received several reports that it was hard to find open gas stations.
