Hurricane Beryl assistance: Salvation Army sends mobile kitchens to Houston to distribute food, water

The Salvation Army announced Tuesday it would deploy mobile kitchens to Southeast Texas to help feed residents in areas impacted by Beryl.

HOUSTON — As Houstonians recover from Beryl’s impact, the Salvation Army has established local command post locations and deployed mobile kitchens to the area.

The Salvation Army announced Tuesday that its Incident management team would be based at the organization’s “disaster warehouse” in Houston with a second operation established in Wharton. A South Baptist Texas Convention Disaster Response kitchen will handle the preparation and cooking of all meals in both locations, according to a media release.

As of Tuesday, the Salvation Army has also stationed mobile kitchens throughout the area. There are four mobile kitchens within the Houston city limits, as well as additional units deployed in Brazoria, Matagorda, and Wharton counties.
