Cooling centers and distribution centers around the Houston area | Updated Sunday, 7/14

Hundreds of thousands remain without power. Here's where you can get some help and a cool place to be.

HOUSTON — As of Sunday morning, hundreds of thousands of power customers remained without electricity, nearly a week after Beryl's landfall. No power can be deadly in the Houston heat, so the city and surrounding communities have set up cooling centers for people affected by the storm to go and distribution sites for them to pick up ice and water. To see maps and locations, you can also visit the City of Houston's site.

The list below is current as of Sunday, July 14.

Water and ice distribution locations

Here are locations you can go to cool down and charge up your electronics.

The following locations will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday

  • Emancipation Community Center: 3018 Emancipation Ave, Houston, TX 77004
  • Fonde Community Center: 110 Sabine St, Houston, TX 77007
  • Melrose Community Center: 1001 Canino Rd, Houston, TX 77076
  • Moody Community Center: 3725 Fulton St, Houston, TX 77009
  • West Gray Multi-Purpose Center: 1475 W Gray St., Houston, TX 77019

The following locations will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday
