Humble, Katy, Baytown and more -- CenterPoint posts power restoration updates for specific areas

The power company posted a map to X showing the service areas along with a link to check individual communities.

HOUSTON — CenterPoint continues to work to restore power to the Houston area following Hurricane Beryl, and on Monday, they posted about a new way to check progress.

The post went up on X at 3:30 p.m. saying they were posting updates for specific service areas. (CenterPoint's post on X has since been deleted)

If you go to CenterPointEnergy.com/LocalUpdates, you can drill down into specific communities like Bellaire, Katy, Baytown, Humble and more.  For instance, at 5 p.m. when we checked on Humble, we saw that CenterPoint was reporting they had 65,975 customers without power and had restored 51,374 customers in the last 24 hours. It also said they deployed a mobile generation unit to a water treatment plant and in Kingwood, they’ve made progress clearing vegetation.

CenterPoint power restoration update

As of 5 p.m. Monday, CenterPoint reported on its website that there are less than 200,000 customers in the dark. At the height of the storm last Monday, there were more than 2.5 million customers without power -- CenterPoint customers made up nearly 2.3 million of those. The others were customers of Entergy and Texas-New Mexico.

CenterPoint also has a map that shows estimated restoration dates. We posted that on Friday and once we did, we heard from many of you whose homes appear in areas of the map labeled "energized" but don’t have power. According to CenterPoint, that’s likely due to "nested" outages.

It could also be that you have damage to your Weatherhead -- the piece of equipment that brings electricity into your home. If that’s the case, you’ll need to get it serviced by a licensed electrician before power can be restored.
