Tropical Storm Elsa moves across the east coast

Impacting millions across the east coast

HOUSTON — Tropical Storm Elsa made landfall near Horseshoe Beach in Taylor County, Florida with 65 mph winds, according to the National Hurricane Center.

It continued moving northward over Florida and into Georgia throughout Wednesday. It will go through North Carolina and South Carolina on Thursday.

National Hurricane Center key messaging — 10 p.m. Wednesday

1. As Elsa moves across southeastern Georgia into the Lowcountry of South Carolina Wednesday night, heavy rainfall may result in considerable flash, urban and minor river flooding. Heavy rainfall across the mid-Atlantic and into New England on Thursday and Friday, could lead to isolated flash and urban flooding.

2. Tropical storm conditions are expected along portions of the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina on Wednesday night. Tropical storm conditions are also expected along the coasts of North Carolina on Thursday and the southern New England states and New York by Friday.
