HOUSTON — UPDATE: This page will no longer be updated. You can get the latest Houston forecast here.
---------
Friday and Saturday will be "quiet" and slightly cooler with partly cloudy skies. A slow-moving weak cold front will push through southeast Texas today clearing skies out this afternoon. This will also push the smoke we have been seeing offshore and south of the Houston area. Expect an improvement in air quality levels.
This afternoon, highs will be in the 80s with winds out of the north at 18-20 mph.
Saturday will be the only day for outdoor activities. Expect partly cloudy skies with afternoon highs in the low 80s. Winds will be out of the east at 5-10 mph.
By Mother's Day, unfortunately, an upper low-pressure system will be moving into Texas and bringing the chance of rain and thunderstorms for Sunday and Monday.
As the upper-level low-pressure system will move off toward the east, we can expect skies to clear out Tuesday and Wednesday with afternoon highs gradually warming.
The Storm Prediction Center for Sunday afternoon and Monday morning is including areas north of Houston under a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall. Keep in mind that grounds are already very saturated from recent rains and floods, so any additional rainfall will cause flooding concerns.
