It's official! Whether we like it or not the dog days of summer are here. Triple digit temperatures were recorded at Houston Intercontinental Airport for the first time in 2019 Thursday afternoon.
This is just the start of a long stretch of 100 degree temperatures ahead as an area of high pressure sits right on top of Texas through the beginning of next week. Feels-like temperatures could be as high as 114 degrees in some areas
We may see a long stretch of head advisories into next week as well. Drinking a couple tall glasses of water first thing in the morning really helps your body fight the high temps and stay cool.
Small children and the elderly are most at risk to heat exhaustion. Limit their exposure to the heat as much as possible.
