A cold front is pushing severe weather into the Houston area.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 3 a.m. for Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, Washington and Wharton counties.
The front is moving at 35 mph and is expected to hit downtown Houston by 1 a.m. and Galveston by 4 a.m.
KHOU Meteorologist David Paul said the front is weakening as it moves into Houston, but still expect wind gusts up to 60 mph and brief heavy rain and lightning with the possibility of isolated power outages.
