TRAFFIC ALERT: Southwest Freeway begins to open back up after being closed near Bissonnet due to lost load

The wreck happened around 2:30 a.m. The freeway was shut down for hours before it started to reopen around 7:30 a.m.

HOUSTON — Traffic in the Southwest Freeway is finally starting to get through after a lost load had the roadway closed for hours, including the morning rush hour.

A wreck with a lost load had all of the inbound lanes closed near Bissonnet which led to a big backup for Sugar Land commuters.

According to KHOU 11 traffic expert Jennifer Reyna, alternate routes could be U.S. 90. or possibly West Bellfort. You could take the feeder road, but Reyna reports that's backed up, as well, and doesn't recommend it.

The wreck was reported at around 2:30 a.m. and lanes began to reopen around 7:30 a.m.

At this point, we don’t know how the wreck happened or if anyone was injured. Stay with KHOU 11 for the very latest. You can check traffic anytime on the map below.
