HOUSTON — A deadly crash shut down the inbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway on Tuesday evening during rush hour, according to authorities.

According to Houston TranStar, the crash happened around 3:30 in the southbound lanes of IH-69 near Beltway 8 and involved one vehicle that caught on fire.

Traffic cameras in the area showed a major backup in both directions.
