Three people were injured in a major crash on the east side on Wednesday night.

According to Houston police, the crash was reported around 8 p.m. along the inbound lanes of the East Freeway near Uvalde Road, which is along I-10 between the East Loop and Beltway 8.

They said an 18-wheeler hit another vehicle and then hit a road barrier.

Three people were taken to area hospitals in unknown conditions.

According to Houston TranStar, all but one main lane, a freeway entrance ramp and the feeder road were shut down.

TranStar also referenced a HAZMAT spill, but it's unclear what substance spilled on the roadway or if it was dangerous to the public.
