HOUSTON -- The Houston Dynamo has a new primary owner, the team announced Tuesday.

Gabriel Brener, who has owned a stake in the Dynamo since 2008, acquired AEG's interests in the Dynamo, Houston Dash and BBVA Compass Stadium.

"I am honored to become the new managing partner of the Houston Dynamo," Brener said in a statement. "Most importantly, I want to recognize the Dynamo fans, sponsors, players and staff and thank them for their support and efforts. I want to let them know that we are committed to fielding a winning team, providing an incredible fan experience, and giving back to the community."

Brener will lead an ownership group that includes boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya, Jake Silverstein and Ben Guill, the team said.

"I am excited about this new ownership group," Dynamo Chris Canetti said in a statement. "Gabriel and his partners are passionate about the Dynamo and Dash. They are committed to winning, building a fan base and giving back to the community. We are all looking forward to this next chapter in the club's history."
