HOUSTON — The Houston Texans announced Friday that the roof of NRG Stadium will be open for their primetime matchup this weekend.
The Texans are playing the Lions on Sunday Night Football and all eyes in the football world will be on the game.
It will be the second game Houston has played with the roof open at NRG Stadium this season. In Week 2, another primetime Sunday Night Football matchup, the roof was open for Houston's win over Chicago.
Before that Week 2 matchup this year, the Texans last played a home game with the roof open at NRG Stadium in 2021 -- a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
NRG Stadium was the first NFL stadium to have a retractable roof.
When Hurricane Beryl blew through Houston earlier this year, it caused damage to the roof of NRG Stadium. Two panels on the stadium had to be replaced due to Beryl.
