HOUSTON — Hurricane Beryl damaged part of NRG Stadium’s retractable roof when it moved through in July and on Friday morning, we got an update on the repairs being made,
Following a timeline of repairs released last month, at least one of the panels that was damaged appears to have been repaired, according to aerial views provided by Air 11. It looked like the second was also being worked on.
In late August, NRG Park said that at least one of the panels would be repaired before the Texans' home opener against the Chicago Bears. That game is Sunday at 7:20 p.m.
The other panel should be fully repaired before the Texans host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 29 at noon -- if not sooner.
Here's what the NRG Stadium roof looked like after Beryl pushed through.
NRG Stadium has already hosted some events with the damaged roof. The Texans took on both the Rams and the Giants in the preseason under the damaged roof. There was also the Zach Bryan concert in July.
