Matt Musil retires from KHOU 11 after more than 40 years of covering Houston sports

Join us in wishing Matt all the best as this Houston sports broadcasting legend begins a new chapter.

HOUSTON — It’s hard to say goodbye, but that’s what we’re doing for a Houston sports broadcasting legend.

KHOU 11’s Matt Musil is retiring from broadcast sports. He’s been on the air at KHOU 11 for nearly 44 years, covering the highs and lows of the Houston sports scene. He's left his mark on the people who have made the city's sports landscape what it is today, which is clear by how many past and present Houston icons wished him well on the retirement video that KHOU 11's Jason Bristol put together for Matt. You can see that video in the window above. It includes names like Hakeem Olajuwon, Jim Crane, Craig Biggio, Dan Pastorini, Jim Nantz and so many more.

Matt has been a big part of the Houston community in both sports broadcasting and giving back. For the last three decades, he's hosted an annual golf tournament that has raised more than $3 million for local charities.

We’re going to miss Matt around here. Join us in wishing him the very best in this new chapter!
