HOUSTON — Yordan Alvarez left his mark in Tampa Bay ahead of the Houston Astros' game against the Tampa Bay Rays even started on Tuesday.

A post by Brian McTaggart on X showed a photo of a glitchy scoreboard at Tropicana Field where he wrote, "Send Bill to Yordan Alvarez."

The video board sits down the right field line at the Trop. It's 322 feet to the wall straight down the line and 370 feet to right-center although it's unclear exactly where Alvarez's ball hit.

According to another post by Julia Morales on X, Alvarez hit the jumbotron during batting practice.

In an update, Morales posted a photo of the videoboard being completely black.

It's not the first time a jumbotron has taken a hit at the hands of Alvarez.

Before taking on the Angels in August 2019, Alvarez crushed a pitch off the video board in the right field at Minute Maid Park during batting practice.

Earning honors

On Monday, Alvarez, along with teammate Alex Bregman, were named American League Co-Players of the Week for the week of August 5-12.

Alvarez, who bats behind Bregman in the order, had his 19th career game with multiple home runs on Sunday. For the week, Alvarez was 9 for 21 with one double five home runs and eight RBIs.

For both Alvarez and Bregman, this is the third time they’ve each earned Player of the Week honors.
