LEAGUE CITY, Texas — Police say two runaway teens from Wyoming may be headed to Texas after stealing a car and guns. Now, rumors are swirling that the teenagers have threatened to attack a preschool in League City.

Police Chief Cliff Woitena said they are aware of two 16-year-old runaway boys who have stolen a 1969 white Chevy Chevelle and guns from a residence in Wyoming.

As of Monday morning, they have not been located. They may be on the way to League City.

Police Chief Cliff Woitena said the only link to the area is a girl they know in Wyoming who has an aunt and cousin in League City.

As for the school threat, the police chief posted an update on Facebook about 12 hours ago.

It said, “The storyline of violence against a school was derived from a comment made approximately 6 months ago concerning school shootings but was not a documented direct threat against our schools or community.”

He said the rumor that these boys are heading to League City to target a preschool is false and not credible.

League City police said they aren’t taking risks. LCPD is working with area law enforcement to have officers at all public schools and 32 private schools and daycares this week.
