Cruz, O'Rourke campaigns hit Houston area Saturday before election

The candidates' campaigns have selected different styles of campaigning for the weekend.

HOUSTON – The Cruz and O’Rourke campaigns are still hard at work in the Houston area the final weekend before Election Day.

The candidates’ campaigns have selected different styles of campaigning for the weekend.

Sen. Ted Cruz is here in his hometown of Houston at Goode’s Armadillo Palace on Kirby.

The incumbent is flanked by his wife, his mother and Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott on a stage with supporters filling the room.

“Heidi, I love you, I adore you, and I admire you,” Cruz said to his wife before a cheering crowd.

A handful of Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s supporters gathered to campaign early Saturday morning.

They will be walking the blocks of the city’s east side looking for last-minute voters ahead of Tuesday’s election.

O’Rourke is stumping in north Texas this weekend while his supporters work in Houston.

“I used to live right over there on Liberty Road and Lockwood,” said supporter Barbara Hamilton.

It is the first time Hamilton has campaigned for a candidate.

“Things are crazy,” Hamilton said. “This world is changing in so many different ways and I don’t like some of the direction it’s going. I think I can make a little difference, so I’m doing the little that I can do.”
