CROSBY, Texas The decision to vandalize a fleet of school buses in Crosby ISD on April Fool s Day was all part of a senior prank, according to school officials.

Five students Cody Wagone, Nicholas Soza, Javone Garcia, Cecil Fontenot and Nelson Rodriguez have been charged with criminal mischief for damaging 58 buses last Sunday, leaving parents scrambling to find alternate ways to get their kids to school the next morning.

Authorities said the students cut holes around the fences at the bus barn operation center in the 14600 block of FM 2100. Once inside, they cut the valve stems on the tires of nearly 60 buses. The entire fleet with the exception of a few special-needs buses was damaged.

That left more than 2,500 students without a ride to school. Buses were back in service by late afternoon.

Officials said it appears a text message from someone named Cecil was sent out asking students to participate in the prank.
