HOUSTON — With temperatures and heat indexes rising, the National Weather Service has put most of the Houston area under a Heat Advisory following Hurricane Beryl.
In response, the city of Houston, various precincts in Harris County, and local non-profits are opening cooling centers to help people avoid the extreme heat during the power outage after Hurricane Beryl.
There will be several centers open on Thursday, July 11 for people to take refuge from the heat.

The city is still operating its cooling center at McGuire Dent Recreation Center, 2222 28th Street. There are also showers located in front of McGuire Dent Recreation Center for public use.
Liberty County cooling center
The Santa Fe Administration building located at 1680 Road 3549 in Cleveland, TX is open as a cooling center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
