The executive order, Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, allows ICE to focus on immigrants who commit crimes after coming to the United States. It says a criminal is a higher priority than a straight-A student.

Dave Cawdell

I disagree with allowing anyone to stay in this country who does not come here legally.

Larry Hubble

The president has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional. The same reprieves were granted by former presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush. The United States is not going to deport 11 million people who have lived here for years and worked and paid sales taxes and probably payroll taxes.

Abner Ziprich

A split would be good. It would mean the lower court ruling stands. Obama’s overreach confirmed.

What’s with all this chatter about a judicial mess should there be a 4-4 split on the Supreme Court regarding the issue of illegal immigration and deportation?

A split would simply mean the injunction against the president’s immigration policy would stand in the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.

Of the states that have challenged the president’s policy, so be it, and great!

The beauty of this system is that the concept of federalism still survives in that the respective states continue to exercise some semblance of sovereignty over their own legal affairs and initiatives.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is opposed to a border wall.

Does he believe we ought to have no border?

Perhaps he should point the finger at the corruption in the Mexican government that has caused millions to flee the country. That’s the source of the problem.

To criticize enforcing immigration laws is spectacularly myopic. A nation without borders is headed for financial disaster.

We asked what people thought about President Obama’s executive order on immigration.

I agree this should be left up to the president and Congress, but the Republicans have opposed President Obama on every issue.

@JeffOstach

Why reward people who break the law? More people will come here illegally, have kids and expect to stay.

@RitaViola

The executive order is humanitarian and morally upright. I support the president.

@MerleCausey

The executive order violated the Constitution and should be turned down by the Supreme Court.
