HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A woman’s body was found near a burning vehicle in north Harris County, the sheriff's office said late Wednesday.

The scene is in the 18600 block of Red Oak Drive, just south of Spring.

Emergency crews responded before 8 p.m. to reports of a grass fire in the area. They found a burning car that appeared to be stuck in a muddy field. About 15 to 20 feet away from the car a woman's body was found.

Investigators were called to the scene. At this time further details have not been released, nor has the woman's identity.

Editor's note: The sheriff's office earlier indicated the woman's body was found inside the vehicle, but investigators later clarified she was found outside of the vehicle.
