HPD looking for 2 men who robbed Westbury restaurant

One victim said the men pointed a gun in her face before stealing her purse.

HOUSTON, Texas — The Cozy Corner in Westbury is a longtime neighborhood haunt where regulars might never suspect anything out of the ordinary. That was until two armed men stormed its covered patio area one night in October of last year.

"It was a totally random situation,” said robbery victim Caitlyn Oelsen.

The Houston Police Department re-released surveillance video of the crime, with the hopes someone can help them find the suspects responsible. Though the video is a little dark, the incident remains crystal clear in Oelsen’s memory.

"And they put the gun in the bartender’s face and put it into my friend’s face, my face," recalled Oelsen. "And they just grabbed whatever they could and ran off.”

She believes the suspects, both wearing masks, may have only been teenagers. She recalled one of them wearing a distinctive black and white plaid shirt or pullover.

“I’m very glad they’re reopening this case up again, you know, because it was scary,” said Oelsen.

Oelsen said she was at the bar, simply trying to relax in a familiar setting. The suspects stole her purse, which contained most of her important belongings and hard-earned money she made from working at another restaurant and bar.

"It’s just like 'give us a break,'" said Oelsen. "We’re all working hard, don’t take from us, you know?”

While you may not recognize the suspects from looking at the video, police believe someone in the community likely knows who’s responsible.

There is a reward of up to $5000 for information leading to arrests. You can provide anonymous tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
