Police call online threats targeting Uvalde CISD 'non-credible,' detectives continue to investigate

We don’t know the nature of these alleged social media posts, however the Uvalde Police Department only described them as disturbing.

UVALDE, Texas — Social media posts that allegedly threatened Uvalde CISD were determined to be non-credible, investigators said.

Police added more officers on Uvalde CISD campuses on Wednesday due to the threats.

It’s another level of security the department said as they continue to investigate the online posts targeting the district.

KENS 5 doesn't know the nature of these alleged social media posts, however the Uvalde Police Department only described them as disturbing.

Initially authorities believed a family member of a district employee was behind the posts but after careful review they determined the family member was not involved and said the posts originated somewhere else.

The district hasn’t provided any more information. They only re-shared what Uvalde police posted on to their Facebook page.

Uvalde police do not believe the threat is credible but said the investigation is ongoing.

And that additional patrols will be on campuses to ensure safety.

The threats came a day after a third grader was caught with a BB gun at school.

It happened at Flores Elementary School during bus pickup.

The BB gun wasn't loaded, but the district says the boy pointed it at another student. The student will not be allowed to return to school while the district investigates.

As for the social media posts, we are working to get more information on those.

We will keep you updated when we hear back.
