Flooding, water rescues in Corpus Christi

High water and water rescues were reported in Corpus Christi early Monday morning as heavy downpours moved in from the southwest.

High water and water rescues were reported in Corpus Christi early Monday morning as heavy downpours moved in from the southwest.

KHOU 11’s sister station, KIII, reports that drivers were stranded along Highway 358. Viewers near Flour Bluff said high water stopped just a few inches from coming into their homes. Some apartments, however, were not as lucky and had a couple inches of water come in.

Flooding was also reported in nearby Rockport and Port Aransas.

A Flash Flood Warning for the area continues throughout the morning, and some schools canceled classes for the day.

There were no reports of injuries or deaths in the early-morning hours.

Heavy rain is expected later in the morning in the Houston area, too, with a Flash Flood Watch in effect for areas to the southwest of the city.
