SUGAR LAND, Texas — Something smells in Sugar Land and it's not sweet.

City officials said the widespread gas odor is due to a "company's ongoing work to replace equipment." It's unclear what equipment they're working to replace and it's also unclear where the work is being done.

They did, however, say the odor does not pose a health risk or danger to the community.

It's expected to linger in the area through the weekend when the work is expected to be completed.

"We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience," the City of Sugar Land said in a social media post on Thursday.
