Man rescued after being pinned between concrete culvert and steel trench box at Meyerland-area worksite

The man was stuck between a concrete pipe and a steel trench box and had to be rescued from a 20-foot-deep hole at a worksite in the Meyerland area.

HOUSTON — The Houston Fire Department rescued a man Wednesday who had become trapped at a worksite in the Meyerland area.

According to an HFD captain, the man was pinned between a concrete culvert and a steel trench box in a 20-foot-deep hole at some sort of worksite along North Braeswood just inside the Loop.

The HFD captain said the man was pulled out of the hole by placing him in a basket and lifting him out. They said it took about 40 minutes to get him out.

The man was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition but HFD officials said he was conscious and breathing when he was pulled out. The extent of his injuries was not known.

It's also unclear what kind of work was going on when the incident happened.

It's unclear if the person who was injured was a worker.
