HOUSTON -- Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident that shut down part of I-45 overnight in southeast Houston.
Officials say a man was walking into lanes of traffic on I-45 southbound at Fuqua Street just before 1 a.m. Saturday when the driver of an SUV came toward his direction. Police say the driver could not avoid hitting the man and struck him.
Witnesses told police the man was not trying to avoid vehicles. Authorities say he died at the scene.
