HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — During a pressure test late Thursday, sheriff’s deputies tell KHOU 11 News, a gasket on pipeline “exploded”, releasing nitrogen into the air. According the Harris County Sheriff’s Office there was a brief shelter-in-place in the area of Moore Road and Miller Road 2, just North of Channelview. It was lifted after about 10 minutes. A company was testing the line when the gauge failed around 10:30 p.m.
People in the area sent videos on social media, called, and emailed the KHOU 11 Newsroom describing what sounded like a jet engine.Deputies say the released nitrogen isn’t a danger, and the leak is being contained.
It’s unclear who owns the pipeline, or the name of the company who was conducting the test.
