Storms continue to pummel areas west and north of Houston as downpours get closer to the city at lunchtime.

WALKER COUNTY, Texas -- Storms continue to pummel areas west and north of Houston as downpours get closer to the city at lunchtime.

Huntsville ISD says all students are safe after storms in Walker County knocked out electricity and phones at the administration building as well as Huntsville High School and Huntsville Elementary School.

As of 11:50 a.m. the worst of the weather was pushing from west to east in areas north of Houston, including Spring, The Woodlands, Plantersville and Conroe. Splendora was also expected to get hit by strong storms just before 12 p.m.

So far there are no reports of serious damage in the KHOU 11 viewing area, but some buildings were damaged in McLennan County, near Waco.
