RICHMOND, Texas - Richmond Police say they are currently working a scene at 705 North 4th Street where two married people were found dead and their son was transported to the hospital with what appears to be carbon monoxide poisoning.

In a statement released to the media, police say an officer responded to a call at 7:28 a.m. Thursday in regards to a death investigation.

A relative told police she could not get in touch with the family and went to check on them. When the family member arrived, she was able to get an individual to come to the door. This person was transported to the emergency room for evaluation. A second and third victim were found already dead inside the home, however.

A preliminary investigation shows that carbon monoxide poisoning may be the cause of the deaths. Police say it appeared the victims were using an oven to heat their home.

There were no signs of foul play, according to police. The scene remained active as of 10 a.m. as the investigation continued.

Police warn that gas ovens are meant to be operated with the door closed. When the door is left open, the carbon monoxide escapes into the home.

Family members identified the couple as Diana and Eugene Perry. Their son, Thad Green, remained in the hospital Thursday afternoon.
