Motorcyclist dies after colliding with vehicle along Seawall Boulevard in Galveston

Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist was traveling at a "high rate of speed" when the wreck happened.

GALVESTON, Texas — A motorcyclist was killed in a wreck in Galveston Sunday afternoon, according to the City of Galveston.

It happened at the intersection of 33rd Street and Seawall Boulevard.

Officials said around 5:10 p.m., a motorcycle going westbound on Seawall Boulevard collided with a vehicle turning right from 33rd Street onto Seawall Boulevard.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist was traveling at a "high rate of speed" when the wreck happened. 

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and no arrests were made, according to city officials.

The intersection at 33rd and Seawall Boulevard on the north side of Seawall was shut down as a result of the crash.
