HOUSTON - An Amber Alert out of McKinney, Texas, finally came to an end Saturday afternoon here in Houston. Three children were found safe and their mother walked away without being charged.

Child Protective Services (CPS) is investigating what the next steps should be.

Deputies from the Precinct 4 Constable's Office pulled the mother other on a feeder road of the North Beltway, near JFK.

They put the three young children in one deputy's car and moved their mother to a separate squad car.

"One of the deputies, when he received the Amber Alert, happened to see the vehicle," said Sgt. Nick Lekas, of the Precinct 4 Constables Office.

The mother was driving in a green Toyota Camry when she pulled over and cooperated when deputies signaled her. A short time later, she was allowed to drive away with no charges filed against her so far, but without her kids.

"They're being transported to CPS. The mother's released right now. There's no charges on her by McKinney, Texas," said Sgt. Lekas.

Details are thin, but we do know there is a Child Protective Services investigation underway.

The family had been staying with an aunt in north Texas and she said that she called police when the mother took off with her kids Saturday.

"All I found out is there was an Amber Alert issued for the kids and Dominique, and I just left work. I just left running," said Latonia Cole, the children's grandmother.

Cole says the family was staying with her here in Houston until a falling out last week. She didn't know what was happening on Saturday until she saw the alert. Now she's working to try to bring the children home with her.

"Them's my pride and joy. They ain't got nobody else but me," said Cole. "It's hard. That's all I can say, it's hard."
