VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — A missing 62-year-old woman was found dead in a field west of Canton near Highway 243, according to the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office.
The woman, Lisa Adams, was last seen on Sept. 12 and was reported missing Thursday, according to the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff's office said Justice of the Peace Don Ashlock has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office thanked everyone who aided in the search for Adams, which included the Canton, Canton ISD, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Ms. Adams," the sheriff's office said in the Facebook post.
