HOUSTON — Three people were hurt Friday when a METRORail collided with a dump truck near NRG Arena.

Two light rail passengers and the operator were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to METRO. The operator was admitted with a knee injury and we are waiting to hear updates on the injured passengers.

The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.

The crash happened on Fannin at Naomi around 12:20 p.m.

Fannin was still closed in both directions hours later.

A METRO spokesman said it reopened around 4:45 p.m. after both vehicles were removed and crews finished cleaning up rocks that spilled from the dump truck.

METRO said the Red Line is shut down but they sent shuttle buses to transport the other passengers.
