HOUSTON - Need a job or know someone who does? A local company needs over 1,000 people at locations all over the Houston area and it's paying up to $10,000 bonuses for new hires.
It's easy to love your job, if your job loves you. At Houston's Methodist Hospital 8 area campuses, they are showing a lot of it. Methodist Talent Acquisition Director Thomas Vernon says, "We have 1,500 openings now."
To fill all those positions - from nurses to technicians to administrative staff and more - Methodist is trying something new. Vernon says, "We reached out our employees to help us post for openings on Facebook, social media, email, text to attract the best talent possible."
The best part of it all? There is a sliding scale of bonuses of up to $10,000 for hard to fill posts such as registered nurses.
Newly hired R.N., Catherine LePree explains, "There is a sign on bonus for full time hires. That is divided out throughout the course of several months."
LePree benefits from that. Bonuses are on top of an RN's average salary of $80,000 a year. There are plenty of other jobs too. LePree says, "You'd think there'd be people climbing out of the woodwork."
Still there is not enough people, so the hospital looks in house for hiring help. Vernon says, "Over half of the people who work here at Methodist are referred by employees."
R.N. Nicole Robinson, who's worked there about two years, has recommended three people. The incentive for current employees who make successful referrals is a reward too.
In the month since this campaign began, Methodist has hired 80 new employees who got the $10,000 bonuses. Half of them were referred by existing employees who also got the same bonus.
The bottom line? That's a lotta love.
